Poonch, June 02 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday arrested a person for murdering his teenage daughter and burying her in a grave in Dhara Mandi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The body of teenage girl was exhumed today and handed over to other family members for last rites.

Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Ramesh Angral said that an information was received by police that that a teenage girl had gone missing from Dhara village of Mandi in Poonch district after which investigation was started by a police team headed by Deputy SP Headquarter Mudassir Hussain and SHO Mandi area.

"During investigation, the father of the girl became the prime suspect who claimed that his daughter had gone missing," Angral said, adding that during the course of investigations, father of the girl was questioned and interrogated after which he confessed to the crime. “The father of the girl admitted that he was spreading fake message that his daughter had gone missing and the fact was that he had actually murdered his daughter mercilessly,” the police officer told KNO.

He said that the father of the girl also admitted that after murdering his daughter, he buried her in a grave discreetly and spread messages that his daughter had gone missing. Official sources said that today, District Magistrate ordered the exhumation of the girl after which her postmortem was conducted.

“The body was later handed over to the uncles of the girl for last rites,” they said. Terming the incident as a “merciless and a brutal murder”, the SSP Poonch said that the accused man has been booked under the charges of murder under IPC 302 at police station Mandi, Poonch—(KNO)
